Supporters of "Peacefully Against Genocide" in Custody

On June 13, 2026, Emma, a supporter of Peacefully against Genocide, was arrested by the police outside her front door and taken into pretrial detention due to an outstanding arrest warrant. And this happened right in the middle of the protest days announced by Peacefully against Genocide.

In March 2026, Emma decided to occupy the roof of the Rheinmetall arms factory in Berlin. Following the protest, she was taken into police custody, which was proven to be unlawful. As a result, she was unable to appear on time for a court hearing regarding a protest with Letzte Generation at the Nuremberg airport. The grounds for pretrial detention include, among other things, the risk of flight or the risk of tampering with evidence. Emma has a permanent residence and has always appeared for her previous court proceedings. The judge refused to tell Emma whether an arrest warrant had been issued following her absence.

The state responds to protests against state crimes with violence and intimidation. Emma is peacefully protesting the killing of people and the destruction of habitats around the world. Now, because of her protest, she is sitting in a cell behind bars.

We are clearly demonstrating that, through this repression, the state is not acting in the interest of society. What kind of democracy is it when members of civil society are imprisoned for protesting? Free Emma!
